Wednesdays With Friendsdays- Lizzy Colley

7 Apr

Today’s friend interview is with one of my favorite people, Lizzy Colley!  Lizzy is adorable, has an amazing style and everyone who meets her falls in love with her instantly.  Lizzy is the assistant manager at Providence’s most awesome antique store and she always has like 1000 other things going on… after interning with a designer in NYC, right now she’s been helping me with PR and she does one modeling job after another!

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

My name is Elizabeth Colley, but call me Lizzy! I am from Corpus Christi, Texas, home of tejano music superstar, SELENA! I currently live in Providence, RI with my boyfriend and my miniature schnauzer Molly Mae. I work in the antiques business! I also work for Kelly twice a week.

How did you meet Kelly?

I met Kelly a few years ago at an outdoor crafty fair in Providence. When I saw her stuff I freaked out and jumped up and down… I was a huge fan of her etsy store so I was shocked to see her in REAL LIFE. For a while I was nervous she thought I was nuts. We met again last year, when she moved into the apartment upstairs from my boyfriend…and now I do website/blogging stuff, PR and cake providing for her clothing line I’m Your Present. It was basically a dream come true!

Tell us about your cupcake business!

I don’t REALLY have a serious business but I decorate cupcakes and cakes on the side for fun. I’ve done a few events and even got to do a wedding last summer. I love vintage candy, toys, ephemera, etc and I use them to decorate. I hoard supplies…which is why I have a large collection of baking papers, sprinkles and other goodies to embellish my goodies with!

You have an amazing apartment! What type of things do you collect?

I LOVE my apartment…and as far as collecting goes, I don’t even know where to begin…I have a ton of vintage dog figurines, especially spaghetti poodles…I collect anything involving poodles…I have a serious amount of velvet paintings and paint by numbers. Some other things I have large collections of include designer & vintage handbags, ceramic cupcakes, 1950’s ballerina items, cowboy items, Texas ephemera, playboy magazines and ANYTHING relating to playboy, dollhouse furniture, DISNEY and anything Mickey/Minnie, novelty t-shirts, souvenir scarves, Christmas items, owls, Barbie clothes and accessories, costume jewelry, books, paper…I have a collection of close to 1200 greeting cards from the 1950’s-60’s. I could keep going on…Wow…I really sound like a hoarder.

What are you favorite things to do for fun/ favorite providence hotspots?

I love antique shopping and thrift shopping! I am the assistant manager at a large antique store and I can’t get enough of it! I love baking, walking my dog, spending time with boo, dancing, driving…

My favorite Providence “hotspots” are the Duck and Bunny for cupcakes, and the monthly Chifferobe parties (vintage themed parties), which are a great excuse to get all dolled up!

Celebrity Crush: Gael Garcia Bernal, Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon Levitt

How you would spend a million dollars:

I would fly to my dream hotel, the Madonna Inn, located in San Luis Obispo, California. I would stay in every single room. Then, I would take a flight to Tokyo, Japan and shop my brains out at all of my dream stores. Once I was done there, I would fly back home and buy a 1957 Chevrolet in Hot Pink or Candy Apple Red, and live the rest of my life happily ever after.

What advice would you give your 16 year old self?

I loved this blog post! Lizzy sounds like a wonderful person!
(p.s. the section titled “Tell us about your cupcake business!” and the section titled “You have an amazing apartment! What type of things do you collect?” have the same answer. I think something was missed).
